Ricky Johnson Obituary

Ricky Allen Johnson

March 29, 1960 - January 7, 2015

Ricky Allen Johnson, the oldest son of Charles and Arlene Johnson, was born March 29, 1960. He grew up in Keizer, Oregon, attending Clearlake Elementary School, Whitaker Middle School, and McNary High School. After graduation in 1978, Rick took over his grandfather's fruit farm. He continued farming his entire lifetime. On June 2, 1984 Rick married Alice Reimer. They had one daughter, Ashley.

An accomplished finish carpenter, Rick enjoyed wood-working and volunteered his skills and time on numerous mission trips around the world with his church, Salem First Church of the Nazarene. His travels took him to Ghana, Venezuela, Ukraine, Mexico, Guatemala, Grenada, Philippines, and many places within the United States. Rick was generous and hard working; he loved helping people in need, especially if it involved building or fixing. He would often be found chatting with long time customers, neighbors or church friends.

Rick was a beloved husband, father, son, and brother. He is survived by his wife, Alice Johnson; daughter, Ashley Sullivan; son-in-law, Andrew Sullivan; mother, Arlene Johnson; and brother, Ron Johnson.

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 15, 2016 at 3:00 pm located at Salem First Church of the Narzarene, 1550 Market St. NE. In lieu of flowers please give donations to the Salem First Church of the Nazarene Missions.

"I have fought the good fight, I have run the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7

Thank you, Rick, for your friendship, handwork, and best fruit anywhere. I will truly miss you. You are now at peace and your mind, body, and spirit are well. God speed, My Friend.

My mother (Dorathy Lorenz-Townsend) was a farmer and held Rick in high esteem, as she did most farmers. She always took us to pick peaches at Rick's place on Clear Lake Rd. Most recently my sister and I would go and pick blue berries. Heaven has a new angel and we are lucky to have known him here on this earth.

This was Ricks greatest harvest. Over the years he had some good, some not so good and some just mediocre. But this one was perfect! For this time Rick was the one harvested and best of all, he went home with his number one customer........His Lord and Savior.

Rick was my family's friend and our "Mutsu" man. I think I met him in 1987, at the original farm. Later he would have Ashley running around him, "helping". All those years, always a kind and caring man. You will be forever missed and remembered.

Mr. Johnson will be truly missed! I met Rick many years ago, purchasing apples from the "original" Johnson Farm up through last fall at their new farm. A great person who shared his passion for farming! The best apples anywhere!!!
