John McArthur Sharpe Sr., 71, passed away Friday, Feb. 17, 2023.
John was born Oct. 30, 1951, to the late Chress Sharpe and Mary Whitworth.
John started working at an early age. He had a career in plumbing and worked hard everyday of this life. He was known as an honest and hardworking person. John was known by many people through his flea market years. He was well known for buying what someone else would consider junk and antiques and sell as a treasure.
He was preceded in death by his adopted father, Paul Carico; son, John McArthur Sharpe Jr.; and brothers, Frank Kenneth Carico and J.C. Smith. John is survived by his mother, Mary Carico; sons, Randy Sharpe (Cissy), Frank Sharpe (Sherry), and Quentin Sharpe; daughters, Trina Dillard (Kenneth), and Patricia Lautt; granddaughters, Makayla Brown (Paul) , Francesca Martinez, Madeline Lautt, and Jacelyn; grandsons, Zachery Dillard, and Josh King; great-grandson, Braxton King; sisters, Loretta Slaton, Margaret King, and Teena Rupard (Don).
A visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Nicholson Funeral Home, from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held Thursday, Feb. 23, at New Life Community Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Friendly Chapel Cemetery. A reception will be held after burial at the Dillard temporary residence, 320 Grassy Knob Rd. in Union Grove.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorials be made to New life Community Baptist Church, 496 Jennings Rd., Statesville, NC 28625.

New John last several years and he was a good friend. We talked over the phone at least once a week since I´ve moved to Winston before that saw him every Tuesday at Lexington flea market he will be missed by everyone at flea market he was such a good person
