Wade A. Campbell, 95 of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2023, at Maple Leaf Assisted Living.

Evelyn Hayes Campbell, 93 of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Gordon Hospice House.

Mr. Campbell was born in Davie County, on January 10, 1928, he was the son of the late James Columbus Campbell and Fannie Anderson Campbell. He attended Oxford School and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. Wade worked for Southern Screw, Hayes Insurance Co., and also at Merchants Metal in Statesville. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church. Wade loved being outdoors, gardening and feeding his fish.

Mrs. Campbell was born in Point Pleasant, New Jersey on March 1, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Max F. and Mary E. Drye Hayes. Evelyn attended Statesville City Schools. She was retired from Woolworths, and also worked for Hayes Insurance and Belk Department Store. Evelyn was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

On September 16, 1949 the Campbells were married at Race Street United Methodist Church. Together they shared more than 75 years of marriage. As her family said of their union "it was unending love."

Those left to cherish the memories of Wade and Evelyn Campbell include their sons, Danny (Nancy) Campbell, Rick (Susan) Campbell, and Mark (Debbie) Campbell, seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and four great, great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life for the Campbells will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Temple Baptist Church, Pastor Randy Mitchell will officiate.
