I share in your loss. Unfortunately I only recently was made aware of the sad news. I am the parent of one of the children Alice helped so much. She fought for my son to get him the extra academic help he needed to succeed. He is now a major in the Army. When we moved to Colorado, living only minutes from her, I was able to strike up our friendship again. She told me that the penguin pencil holder my son gave her was one of the very few school mementos she kept. I am so honored to have known her.
I have attached two photos; one of our favorite lunch spot, and the other of her penguin cup.
I will miss her terribly.

I remember Alice very well. We both taught in Parkway years ago. She was on the Exec Board of PNEA when I was local president. I came very close to resigning my teaching position but Alice convinced me to hang in there. I did and went on to serve as both vice president and president of Missouri NEA. I'm still active as an NEA-Retired member now living in Florida.
