Ken was preceded in death by his eldest son Timothy of Ballwin, MO., and his parents Arthur and Nancy Long of Taunton, Somerset, England which is where he was born.
Ken's engineering expertise brought him and his family to Seattle in 1967 to work for Boeing. He became a US citizen in 1981 while working for NAVAIR in Maryland. He later worked for McDonnell Douglas/Boeing in St. Louis for many years as a hydraulics engineer. After retirement, he continued working as a consulting engineer.
With his professional background, Ken could fix just about anything. He was often seen working in the garage on one of the family vehicles. He enjoyed the outdoors, which included gardening, boating and water skiing. He was an accomplished cross-country runner while growing up in the UK. He also loved playing and coaching soccer and attending his children's sporting events. He was a huge Cardinals (baseball and football) and Rams fan!
Special thanks to all of the doctors and nurses who provided excellent medical care for Ken over the last several years. Services will be private. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society and/or the American Red Cross for the benefit of Ukraine. Contact Richard Long at [email protected] for more information.

We were the next door neighbor of the Longs. Great neighbors for our family. When their home had a fire we were happy to open up our home to the family because they could not stay in their home. We were glad to help. Many fond memories. We were sorry to hear of his passing.

Ken taught me how to troubleshoot and isolate faults on one of the most complicated fighter jet systems ever created. Isolating faults on a complex system is an ideal way to understand the system in depth. Ken also revealed to me a few humorous British sayings, which I only understood years later when I married my lovely British wife Theresa. Ken shared with me his experience when he lived in Ilminster on VE Day - he remembered it like it was yesterday! Thanks Ken for brightening my life!

I had the privilege to not only share a surname, but to have worked with Ken for several years in the T45TS at Boeing/McDonnell-Douglas. Ken had a keen and sharp engineering mind and he made significant contributions to the aircraft program. He often brought unique perspectives to solve problems. I really enjoyed working with him over that time. My condolences to family and friends
