Carpentier, Mary Virginia
(nee Schmidt), 86, fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, died Feb. 21, 2022. Born in St. Louis to Mathias and Janice (Armstrong) Schmidt. Married William A. Carpentier (deceased, 2008) in 1957.
She is survived by sons John (Sallie) and Jim (Karen) Carpentier; daughters Janice (Mark) Yawdoszyn, Laura (Jeff) Hamilton, and Barbara (David) Byrd; grandchildren Matthias (Gwen Lamar) Dean-Carpentier; Michelle (Charlie) Jacob; Kevin Carpentier; Adam Yawdoszyn; Amy, Beth and Rachel Hamilton; Andrew and Caroline Byrd; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Schrauth.
After raising her children, Mary began her second career, working with teens at Epworth Children & Family Services in Webster Groves. Mary's final act of service was donating her body to St. Louis University School of Medicine.
The family would like to thank everyone at Bethesda for the loving care they gave Mary in her final years.

Services: Mass of Resurrection Saturday, March 5, 10 a.m. visitation with family 9-10 a.m., Holy Redeemer, Webster Groves.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and with the whole family. Mary always treated me with such kindness, and she had a ready wit. Her children and grandchildren do her proud.
