Mary Twyman "Molly" Ryan

1945 - 2015

Ryan, Mary Molly Twyman 1945 - 2015 Molly passed away after a brief illness on September 3, 2015, in Bozeman, Montana, where she had lived since March of this year. She is survived by three children; daughters, Amy Williams (Kenzie) and Emily Ryan, both of Bozeman; son, Matt Ryan (Lauren Finzer, fiancée) of Saint Paul, Minnesota; three adorable grandchildren, Jack, Maggie, and Hank; and her close friend and former husband, Tom Ryan. Molly was born in Mexico, Missouri, to William Gale Twyman and Mary (Bingham) Twyman. Her father was an executive with A. P. Green Industries and the family, which included the late William G. Twyman, Jr., moved to Toronto, Canada, for business purposes in 1953. Molly's family tree includes many interesting and prominent Americans including the artist George Caleb Bingham, former Congresswoman Martha Griffiths, and former Senator Christopher S. Bond. Molly was a graduate of Branksome Hall School in Toronto and Lindenwood College, and she taught school in the Pattonville district for five years. For many years she was an active and tireless volunteer making meaningful contributions to the Missouri Botanical Garden, Ladue Chapel Nursery School, Churchill School, John Burroughs School, and Whitfiled School, among many others. A long-time member of the Ladue Garden Club, Molly was recognized, both locally and nationally, as an expert in the cultivation of Bonsai trees. She enjoyed and pursued many other fascinations including computers, music, photography, police radio, detective fiction, horticulture, Cardinal baseball, and gadgets of every description. She was a dear friend to many and gracious and kind to all.
