Justin Lassabe Obituary

Justin Victor Lassabe, Sr.

1936 ~ 2014

Pass Christian

Justin Victor Lassabe, Sr. 77, of Pass Christian, passed away on March 27, 2014 peacefully in his sleep in Bay St. Louis, MS.

Justin was a lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He served his country as a United States Marine. He served his community as a patrolman for the Pass Christian Police Department and a fireman. He worked as a machinist at Strutter-Wells and Bayou Steel. Later in life, he became a successful commercial fisherman. However, his professional accomplishments pale in comparison to his personal accomplishments. Justin spent the entirety of his life as a devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend. The world was a better place with Justin Lassabe in it. While the Lassabe family will no doubt mourn this great loss, they intend to celebrate his life and bid him a final farewell with a gathering of family and friends this Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport.

Justin is survived by his sister, Mary (Ed) Carver; four children, Justin (Peggy) Lassabe Jr. -JJ, Kathy Lassabe White -Sis , James Lassabe -Keith, and Carl (Michelle) Lassabe Sr.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; as well as his beloved dogs, Queen Isabella and Miss Dawg.

Justin is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Lassabe -Pa and Olevia Zeitvogel Lassabe -Granny; his brothers, Curtis Lassabe Sr., Roy Lassabe, and Tom Lassabe Sr.; his son, Charles Lassabe -Chuckie; and his daughter, Anita Lynn Lassabe Holliman.

"Off somewhere the music's playing soft and low / And another holds the one that I love so / I was blind I could not see / that you meant the world to me / And like a fool I stood and watched you go / Now I'm crying my heart out over you / Those blue eyes now they smile at someone new / Ever since you went away, I die a little more each day / Cause I'm crying my heart out over you." - Justin Lassabe c. 1956
