Audrey J. Harfst, I know her as Grandma. I never knew how I would react to this time. At first it was hard every time I saw her face in my mind. she always had a kind word made you believe in the best in humanity. As I grow and deal with the mortality of this frail life I always find comfort in the conversations we had that echo in my head and will never be forgotten. She used to tell me that she didn't want people to cry when she went because there was nothing to cry about. She was so proud of the accomplishments she made. She believed she had everything you could ever ask for from life a great marriage and a true soul mate, 3 wonderful kids, and more great friends than she could count on two hands. I tied not to cry but it was hard. I remember last summer when me, katy, and jimmy went and plaid BINGO with grandma and grandpa and katy kept saying bingo even though she didn't have it and everybody was giving her a hard time grandma would just say "its ok baby" and the last time Katy yelled bingo she really had it and it was the top prize. It was one of best times we had and I will never forget you. Your love is bigger than this world and will always be with us. I love and will see you again one day.

I will endeavor to put into words the myriad of feelings and emotions running through me now, but I will try. A lot of you knew her as Aunt, Cousin and Friend, I just knew her as Mom. She was the best Mom you could ever have. She knew how to lift me up when I was down, keep me on the straight and narrow when I wondered off the path. She was a confidant, a protector and best of all my friend. I loved her with ever inch of my being. She saw the good in others you couldn't seem to find, she had a heart of gold that can never be replaced. I can't being to convey the sorrow I feel at her passing, like a piece of me is now gone. I love you Mom, and I will miss you everday until we see each other again. Love always, Tommy.

I remember when Kerry and I brought Tara and Chris down to visit. They could not stop calling Aunt Audrey 'grandma' because of the close resemblance to Mom. They still remember that time and when she visited South Bend with Uncle Tom. Now Aunt Audrey is with mom and so many other family members. May she rest in peace in our Savior's arms!

I will always have nothing but good thoughts of my Aunt Audrey. She was one of a kind. She had a heart of gold and loved her family.
When I was a young lad, Dad and Mom would take all six of us kids into South Bend to visit grandma and grandpa, the first one to meet and greet us was usually Aunt Audrey. I remember she would always have a kind greeting and a big hug for everyone. It didn't matter if it was only one day or even a month since our last visit...she would give you a big hug.
I remember a lady with a great since of humor, a smile and always quick with a joke. I think the first dirty joke I ever heard...either came from my Dad or Aunt Audrey. Yes...I can remember that joke.
I remember her fledgling night club career. She would belt out the tunes in her brash and unassuming singing style that Ella Fitzgerald or any blues singer of the fifties would envy when she sang at the "Blue Note Lounge" in downtown South Bend.
I remember how proud she was when Jeanne Marie, Ruthie, and Tom came along.
Your Mother, wife, grandma and my Aunt will be missed.
Love as always,
Cousin Denny & Bonnie Steenbergen

Mom, I miss you- my soul has this empty space and I will keep you there forever. You taught me how to love people for who they are you spent you life serving others- and I know you are serving our Lord now.
I miss your sense of humor - how you used to embarass us with it.
I Love you - I know that Heaven has gained what we have lost.

My dear, dear Aunt Audrey, I still remember when you and I went on a double date. You loaned me a pair of your big plastic feathered earrings. You loved the Roadrunner comics and you use to laugh yourself silly over them. I didn't get it. I know we had not seen each other much, but I never stopped thinking about you. You are at peace now, God Bless and keep you. Love you niece Carole and family.
