Homegoing Celebration for Ms. Carolyn Birt Monroe of Tampa who passed away, Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015 will be held Saturday, Nov. 28, at 11 am at St. John Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 2504 E. Chipco St., Rev. Dr. Bartholomew Banks, pastor with Elder Frank O. Gray Sr., officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Carolyn Monroe was born April 11, 1938 in Tampa, to the late Elliott Birt Sr. and the late Daisy Thomas. Carolyn was predeceased by her loving son, Ike Williams Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories her loving grandson, Corey Williams and wife Kimberly of Atlanta; her great-grandchildren, Kourtney and Cody Williams of Atlanta; her daughter-in-law, Kelly Williams of Atlanta; her sister, Barbara J. Birt of Tampa; her brothers, Elliott Birt Jr. and wife Velma of Hartford, CT; Otis Birt Sr. of Tampa; her aunts, Margaret Cannedy of Tampa, Ruth Collins Martin of Washington, DC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home Friday, Nov. 27, from 5-8 pm with the family will receiving visitors from 5-6 pm. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
