Christa Smith

SMITH, Christa Katarina Christa K. Smith of Ballast Point (nee Donnerstag) passed away on July 22, 2023 at the age of 78. She was born in 1945 in Worms, Germany. She was preceded in death by her parents, Helmut and Katarina Donnerstag and sister, Kordula. She is survived by her brother, Helmut Donnerstag; son, John Smith and daughter-in-law Janie Smith; grandchildren, Sophie Smith and Neil Smith; niece, Johanna Browne, and many friends, including her best friend, Karin Hesse. Christa was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening and was a passionate defender of animals, including her cat, Tommy. She loved good food and was a member of the Elks and Moose clubs. Christa had a long career as a real estate title examiner and was known and respected as an expert in her field. Christa immigrated from war-torn Germany in 1970 to provide a better life for her family and one of her proudest moments was when she finally became an American citizen. A celebration of her life will be held from 6-8 pm on August 7, 2023 at Bocelli Modern Italian, 5427 Bayshore Blvd., Tampa, FL 33611. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.
