Daniel CALABRIA Obituary

CALABRIA, Daniel died on November 4, 2020 at age 84. He was predeceas-ed by Mildred, his wife of 62 years. He is survived by his daughters, Karen and Valerie, sons-in-law Neal and Jeff; and grandchildren, Michael, Kevin and Alyssa. Dan was born on Cherry St. in lower Manhattan, the fourth child of Stella and Angelo Calabria. Raised in Brooklyn, he was the first in his family to earn a college degree. He then made his way back across the river to Wall St. and was instrumental in the birth of the mutual fund industry. He rose to the top in his field, creating his own company and writing a book on investing along the way. After retiring, Dan volunteered in several capacities and served a term as mayor of South Pasadena, Florida. Dan lived on his terms, a man of uncompromising integrity. He called out hypocrisy where he saw it, and worked to make the world a better place. He would do anything for those he loved. He taught his family to fight for what they believed in, and in the words of Winston Churchill, "Never, never, never give up." He is deeply loved and sorely missed.
