Dr. Donald H. HAMMOND

HAMMOND, Dr. Donald H.

died August 16, 2018 at age 77. He was a native of Tampa, and a 1959 graduate of Hillsborough High School. He joined the Air Force and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Meteorology. He then went to Flight School and became a well decorated Jet Pilot in Viet Nam, to include the Distinguished Flying Cross. After a distinguished 26 year career in the Air Force, Donald retired and attended Florida State University where he obtained his PHD in Mathematics and Computer Science. He taught at the University of New Orleans for ten years and retired back to the Tampa Bay area where he taught one year at Tampa University and several more at area colleges. Donald was predeceased by his older son, Brent Hammond; and survived by his brother, George Hammond; sister-in-law, Meredith Hammond; son, Robert Hammond; daughter-in-law, Danell Hammond; and grandchildren, Hunter Hammond, Croix Hammond, Alyssa Lewis, and Christopher West; daughter-in-law, Marie Hammond; and grandchildren Tyler Hammond, and Dawnielle McNabb with husband, David McNabb; and great-grandchild, David Brent McNabb; he was also survived by long time friend, Marian. Donald loved boating, fishing, and billiards. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
