Francis SASO Obituary

SASO, Francis Paul

83, passed away April 2, 2015. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Lou. Frank is survived by his son, David; daughter, Laura Coggin; son, Mark; and their spouses. He also has seven grandchildren, and a great-grand-daughter. He is also survived by his companion, Barbara Philipson. He was born in Euclid, OH and graduated from Shore High School. He then attended and graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art. He worked as a commercial illustrator in Detroit, MI, before moving to Florida in 1980 and opening his own art studio in the Tampa Bay area. Frank was one of the founders of the National Graphic Artists Guild now located in New York City. The U.S. Army commissioned him to do a commemorative 1991 Gulf War painting. The first limited edition print was presented to General Norman Schwarzkopf and the original painting hangs in the Pentagon in Washington D.C. Frank Saso was commended by officials from the U.S. Congress, The State Government of Ohio, Cleveland and Euclid, Ohio. Honoring his art on display in the Pentagon were Representatives Stephanie Tubbs Jones and Senator George Voinovich. Also for his successful career, he was inducted into the Distinguished Achievement Hall of Fame by State Representatives Edward Jerse and Larry Householder and the mayor of his home town of Euclid, OH. A celebration of his life will be held at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church on May 9 at 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you consider a charitable contribution to Renal Cell Cancer Research.
