Hector L. Medina

MEDINA, Hector L., 50, of Tampa, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2009. He was born April 20, 1959, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, to Ernesto Medina and Eduvigis Quiles. Hector graduated in 1981 from Georgia Tech with a bachelor' s degree in engineering. With 27 years of experience as a bridge engineer, he built bridges in several countries, including the completion of a long-term project in his native land, Puerto Rico, a cable stayed bridge over the La Plata River in Naranjito. A dream come true for Hector. He also was an entrepreneur, opening Bridge Concepts, where he served as president. Survivors include his son, Vincent Medina; daughter, Amy Medina; brothers, Ernesto and Roberto; sister, Drusy; brother-in-law, Luis; nieces, Mariel and Melissa; nephews, Luis and David; companion, Michelle Klein; and former wife and friend, Maria Taylor-Medina. A celebration of life service will take place 11 a.m. Friday, July 24, at Gonzalez Funeral Home, 7209 N. Dale Mabry Highway. In lieu of flowers, charitable trust accounts are established at SunTrust Banks for Vincent C. Medina and Amy L. Medina. "Hector, you will forever live in our hearts. God bless you."
