Irene HILL

1927 - 2021

HILL, Irene Gengler "Renie" passed peacefully on July 31, 2021 at the age of 94 after a seven year battle with dementia. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Charles Hill, and is survived by her children, Jeannette (Al) Huether, Nancy (Joe) Pickard, Sloane (Tim) Ulliman, and Charles (Tammy) Hill Jr. and her grandchildren, Natalie (Patrick) Lacerda, Lindsay Lavietes, Rebecca Grossman, and Rachel Pickard; five great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Renie was ferociously independent, strong willed, and a successful investor. She was a voracious reader, loved arts and crafts, especially painting, and enjoyed thrifting. She had many talents; possessing a refined taste, she was a wonderful designer, a skilled seamstress, a consummate chef, an excellent gardener as well as an accomplished bridge player until dementia incrementally took her skills and joys away. Born June 8, 1927 and raised in Nashville, TN. She lived in Cocoa Beach and worked for NASA and lived in Washington, DC and worked for the State Department in the 60s, lived in California and worked in San Francisco in the 70s, and moved to St Petersburg where she sold and managed real estate in the 80s and 90s. She was a forty plus year resident at La Puerta Del Sol and a long time volunteer at All Children's Hospital. She will be missed but not forgotten. A celebration of life will be held at a future time.
