Joseph F. Churchill
At the age of 86, Joseph F. Churchill, (of Enfield and formerly of Dorchester, MA) a dedicated husband, father, brother-in-law, uncle, gramper, and friend, succumbed to the ravages of COVID, resulting in the weakening of his lung function. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Ardini) Churchill, son, Joseph M. Churchill, granddaughter, Mrs. Sloane E. (Churchill) Goodman (Cameron), and grandson, Spencer B. Churchill (fiancée Abigail Bicknell). He was predeceased by his parents, Howard W. Churchill and Lucy I. (Enslow) Churchill, and older brothers, Howard L. and James B. Churchill, and his in-laws, Dorothy C. (Nash) and John A. Ardini. Joe also lost his dear friend and brother-in-law, Walter F. Fawcett, Jr., sisters-in-law, Barbara E. (Ardini) McCall, and Dorothy M. Ardini, and daughter-in-law, Jodi E. Churchill. He is survived by his brothers-In-law, Charles F. McCall (Virginia), John N. Ardini (Julie) and George J. Ardini (Jessica), and five sisters-in-law, Rita L. (Ardini) Maglio (Dennis), Mary Jane (Ardini) Fawcett, Loretta A. (Ardini) Rieman (John), Margaret L. (Ardini) Peterson (Ted), and Jeanne C. (Ardini) McLaughlin (Dan). Joe was gifted many nephews, nieces, and grands. He was also blessed with many good friends, neighbors, and parishioners over his full life!
Joe was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, working on the H21 helicopter and serving in Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion Post #80 in Enfield. Following his service, he had a 31-year career with Pratt & Whitney Military Engines and was involved with every engine program from the J52 through the F100-229 and F404. Joe enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing, shooting, cribbage, coaching, swimming, cars, dogs, and gardening; especially when they could be shared with family and friends. He raised his family in the St. Bernard's Catholic Parish and held the character to truly live those values. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all. The world has lost a great man.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at his Wake on Friday, February 7, from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. A funeral procession will gather at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernard Church, Enfield. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Enfield.
