Buddy Iaia Obituary

My Buddy followed my son Vito home one raining afternoon. It seemed that he was abandoned. He was shy at first; being extremely careful not to get too close to these new people that fed him dog food. Regardless of dog food or not, Buddy kept coming back day after-day. Dad initially never wanted to have a cat, but Buddy put his life into ours and that would be one of the best things to happen to all our lives. It has been 8 years ago since that rainy afternoon and now he is an integral part of our family.

Buddy was the love of the neighborhood; children and adults always came by to pet Buddy. To the other cats though he quickly got the nickname "Don" Buddy for claiming the street as his own and running it with an iron fist. Buddy had many quirks that many of the neighbors had the pleasure of witnessing. For instance, Buddy hated most of the medicine that he was given. After taking certain medicine, he would immediately go over to his friend's house, Turdy, and showed this disgust by giving her funny face.

Our Buddy was a wonderful cat and will be missed so very much. People always tell me "it's just a cat" but he is much more than that. Buddy is part of our family and just like any family member passing, it will be hard to see him go. Now that Buddy has passed, he leaves his family Vito, Norma, Salvator, Vincenzo, and Gino behind for a better place.
