LOUIS DI VITO Obituary


LOUIS R. DI VITO Louis R. Di Vito, 95, departed this life May 29, 2014. His final days were spent talking to and surrounded by family and
friends that he had touched in some small way though out his very memorable life. Born January 31, 1919 in Matrice, Italy to Michele and Carmela Di Vito, immigrating to America in 1928 with his family, and settling in Cleveland, Ohio. Lou started his own floral business in 1942, and was immediately drafted and served in the US Army until the end of WW ll in 1945. Upon his discharge he resumed an active role in the floral business until retiring 1983. He also served as an active member on the board of directors of Interlake Stamping, Inc., Willoughby, Ohio. He loved life and spent a great deal of his retirement years playing golf. So much so, that he shot two "Holes-In-One", the 1st at age 88 and 2nd at age 93. To Lou, golf was a form of exercise, his true love, was his friendships and many of his friends live within the Eaglewood, Hobe Sound Community. He often said: "Eaglewood is my home, the members are my friends, I love them". Also, known for his annual Eaglewood Christmas Lighting Event, Lou spent the entire year planning his layout. Lou is survived by his 3 children Gregory, Michael, and Mary Louise (spouse Wes), sister Marie Di Vito-Fratus and her 3 sons, Bob (spouse Judy), Michael, and Tom. Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, June 18th, at 11:00 a.m. St. Christopher Church, Hobe Sound, FL followed by a "Celebration of His Life" at the Eaglewood Club House. Family and Friends welcome. Donations may be sent to St. Christopher Church, Hobe Sound, FL or Treasure Coast Hospice, Stuart, FL.
