OLAF OLSEN Olaf Olsen, 90 of Millerton, NY and Stuart, FL, died Sunday, June 10, 2007 at Noble Horizons Nursing Facility in Salisbury CT. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, the elder of 8 children, on Sept. 27, 1916, son of Tore and Olevine Olsen. He spent his childhood in Grimstad, Norway, later returning to the US. Olaf was an experienced tool & die maker and carpenter and worked as a machinist at Arma Engineering Co. in Brooklyn during the WWII years. He later was employed by Wassaic State School for many years retiring in 1975. He also owned and operated "Olsen's Boat Shop" on the Millerton - Sharon road. A member of the Millerton Presbyterian Church and also of the Stuart Congregational Church, he was active in choir and enjoyed acting in plays and musicals. His first wife Muriel died Nov.. 2, 1962. Olaf is survived by his wife Vera Brown Olsen and son Ronald Olsen of Millerton, NY. Also, daughters Marilyn Midwood of Millerton, NY, Cynthia Ramsey of Chugiak, AK, Cathy Vawser of Etna, ME, and Susan Breier of Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Two sister.s, Ruth Donner of FI, and Alice Martin of SC survive. Nine grandchildren c U survive as do several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Torlaf, Odmund, Bjarne, Norvald and Audrey. Funeral services will be held at the Millerton Presbyterian Church on Sat., June16 at 10 o-clock AM. Rev, Nancy Thornton McKemie, pastor, and Rev. Erik Olsen, Olaf s nephew, will officiate. Interment will follow at Ellsworth Cemetery in Sharon, CT, Friends may call at the Valentine funeral l3/8lome, PArk Ave. Millerton on Friday n9m 5 - 8 PM.
