William Fallon Obituary

WILLIAM "BILL" FALLON William Fallon, 87, died on July 31, 2006, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Scotland, Bill and family members immigrated to the United States in 1930. He gave up a promising career in professional soccer when he enlisted in the Army in 1940. Bill was one of the last survivors of a small group of men he called friends; those he served with in World War II as members of the First Division Engineers, the Big Red One. He landed with the first wave in the Normandy DDay invasion of Omaha Beach and served in six European and African campaigns. A resident of Valley Stream, NY for over thirty years, Bill retired to Vero Beach in 1979. He enjoyed golf, long walks, good books, the Dodgers spring training, and wonderful friends. A man of few words, Bill always said he was a very rich man. Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Georgianna , three daughters and a son-in law, Terri and Frank Bonaccorso of Valley Stream, NY, Mary Fallon of Vero Beach, Fl, and Elizabeth Fallon of Wilmington, NC. He also leaves two grandchildren, John William Bonaccorso and Mary Ferrara of Valley Stream, NY. And with a shake of his head in some disbelief, he was able to see a picture of his yet unborn great grandson, Ryan John Ferrara. A Mass of Christian burial was followed by internment with military honors at the Coastal Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery in Jacksonville, NC.
