Walter Specht Obituary

Walter Arnold Specht was born April 8, 1944, in Longview, Washington to Clem and Amelia Specht. He left this world on August 10, 2024, surrounded by his family.

He was a lifelong resident of Cowlitz County and graduated from Kelso High School. He enjoyed flying airplanes, fishing, hunting, racing flat track motorcycles, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. After serving in the U.S Navy he worked for Specht Brothers Specialty Coatings for several years, followed by the Longview School District for thirty-three years, retiring as Maintenance Manager.

Walt married Marie Davis, the love of his life, on December 2, 1967, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Longview. They spent 57 years together making beautiful memories filled with love and laughter, and spending time with their daughter Jennifer, son-in-law, Erik, granddaughter Anneliese, cousins, and many, many wonderful friends. Walt could always be counted on to support his family, friends and community and keep email inboxes supplied with humorous jokes and commentary.

Walt was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a 45+ year member of the Longview Pioneer Lions Club and a Melvin Jones Fellow, also a 56+ year life member of Kelso-Longview Elks Lodge #1482.

Walt was preceded in death by his father and mother Clem and Amelia Specht, a sister, Viola Katherine, and his two brothers Clem Specht Jr., and Charles Specht. He is survived by his wife Marie, daughter Jennifer Specht Brannfors (Erik), granddaughter Anneliese, and niece Vicky Ohlman.

At his request no funeral service is planned, however in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Longview, Longview Pioneer Lions (PO Box 265) or Kelso-Longview Elks lodge (#1482).

Cremation has already taken place through arrangements by Dahl-McVickers. A celebration of life will be held in coming months.

Marie, We just found out today about Walts Passing. We were shocked to say the least. We will always remember the jokes he played out at maintenance. Like the water on their lap when they stepped on the brake! Also can always see him coming to the old Dairy King to get a peanut butter shake. He was a great guy! Jim and Kathy Morris

I am at such a loss in his passing. Every Friday morning we would meet for breakfast at Silver Star. We only found out this last Friday of my Friends passing as I asked on of Walts friend alone at there table and I ask where's Walt haven't seen in the last two weeks. I asked because I really missed him patting me on the back saying good morning. I worked 20 years at the Longview School Dist. and talked with him in our working journey together. Walt I love your kindness and humor along the way. And I loved the man I came to know. Empty is all my heart says. Someday I will see you again in Heaven. To your Wife I'm truly sorry for your loss and I wish the Lord's comfort for you and your family each and everyday.
