Carol King Obituary

Carol A. King, 60

WORCESTER - Carol Anne King, 60, of Worcester, died at Vero Health Care Center on Saturday, April 17, 2021, of pancreatic cancer.

Carol leaves her brother, Philip, his wife Leigh, and their three children, Charlie, Jack and Grace, by whom she will always be remembered as their "Favorite Auntie Carol." She also leaves behind her uncle Leonard Conlin of Worcester and her aunts Lorraine King of Needham and Ann King of Rockville, Maryland, as well as a large extended family of cousins and a wide circle of friends from all stages of her life. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth (Cooney) King, and her beloved brother Johnny.

Carol was born in Worcester and grew up in the Tatnuck Square neighborhood, graduating from Doherty Memorial High School in 1978. She attended Fitchburg State College and graduated in 1982. She worked for more than 20 years as a marketing director at Briarwood Continuing Care Retirement Community, and is fondly missed by residents and staff there.

Carol's greatest joy was spending time with her friends and family - summer trips to the Cape with cousins, Easter Sunday dinners at Ken's Steak House, outings with the "Briarwood Babes," and annual reunions with her college friends. She doted on her nephews and niece, and her cousins' and friends' children loved her like an aunt as well. But by far, her happiest days were spent with her brother Johnny, whether taking him to Red Sox games or Disney World, or just spending time with him as his constant companion. Carol gave so much of herself to everyone she loved, and will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity of spirit.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral Mass will be Friday, April 23, at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St. Worcester. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Leicester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Emerald Club of Worcester, PO BOX 60129, Greendale Station, Worcester, MA 01606.

I was just so sad to hear of Carol's pasting. I remember her as the sweet little girl next door that I used to baby sit. I know that she is now in heaven having fun with Johnny.
Philip, I don't know if you remember me, I'm Dena's older sister. But I am so very, very sorry for your loss. My prayers go out to you and your family.

Phil and Len, We are so sorry to learn of Carol's death. She assisted several of our relatives in the difficult transition from their homes to Briarwood, where they happily made their new homes with Carol's kind oversight. Her kindness and care will never be forgotten. She is at peace.
