Ocala, FL - Erna C. (Wenz) (Truell) Hamilton, Ocala, FL passed away on Monday, October 15, 2012 in Ocala. She was born in Worcester, MA on January 15, 1917; daughter of the late William and Elsa (Nustedt) Wenz. She grew up in Shrewsbury, MA and graduated from Major Beal High School in Shrewsbury and Worcester State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She taught elementary school at Calvin Coolidge School in Shrewsbury for 41 years before retiring in 1979 to move to Pembroke, NH with her husband. While living in Shrewsbury and teaching she also cashiered part time at Spag's for 14 years; operated a wholesale greenhouse business called Roserna Gardens and trained and showed a poodle in obedience classes at dog shows for 13 years; earning many awards. She also became a judge of Obedience Classes at dog shows. Erna became a member of Shrewsbury Dog Training Club and a Life Member of Tri-Town Kennel Club of Spencer. While living in New Hampshire she was a member of Merrimack Valley Retired Educators Association, Pembroke Womans Club, South Congregational Church of Concord, Pembroke Grange III, Community Players of Concord, Friends of City Auditorium and a member of it's Board of Trustees and Hospitality Committee. She was also a member of the Pembroke Historical Society and served on the Board of Trustees ; Bow Garden Club member and past president and member of Shrewsbury Mass. Retired Educators Association. Erna also did volunteer work for the Association for the Blind, The Friendly Kitchen, many political presidential campaigns and Interfaith Caregivers Program. In 2003 she and her husband Charles moved to Ocala, FL and while living in Florida she served on a communion team at Ocala West United Methodist Church. Charles passed away on February 18, 2011 and her first husband Ralph Truell passed many years prior. Erna is survived by many nieces and nephews including Judi Vaillancourt and her husband Gary of Sutton, MA, Karla Lynch and her husband Paul of Bradenton, FL. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 19, 2012 at 10:00AM at Ocala West United Methodist Church;. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Charles at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County, PO Box4860, Ocala, FL 34478.
