Eugene Davis Obituary
WORCESTER - Eugene E. Davis, 89, a lifetime resident of Worcester and a retired Worcester Police Officer, died peacefully Tuesday, September 25, 2012 in his daughter's home.
He leaves his wife of 67 years, Juliana A (Junnila) Davis and his daughter, Bette Lou Davis Parker and her husband Benjamin Parker of Lunenburg; a sister, Geraldine Westerlind of Worcester; four grandchildren, Shannon LaFosse of Ashburnham, James Davis of Lunenburg, Noelle Hohnecker of Great Falls, Montana and Melanie Blavackas of Barre; fourteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother, Robert C. Davis and a sister, Jane Laventure.
Eugene was the son of the late Horace C. & Aldia M. (Magnan) Davis and was born in Worcester on June 2, 1923.
Eugene was a Worcester Patrolman and Detective for 30 years. He also was a licensed plumber. Prior to becoming a Police Officer he worked at the Worcester Municipal Airport. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Asiatic Fleet. Eugene was a member of the American Legion Post 0435 an avid fisherman, both fresh and salt water, and he loved hunting with friends and family.
You are invited to attend his visiting hours in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, from 4-7 p.m Friday, September 28, 2012. His funeral will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, September 29th at 11 a.m. Burial at Hillside Cemetery in Rindge, NH will be private. Those who wish to remember Eugene by way of memorial tribute are kindly asked to consider the Hospice of Nashoba Nursing Service, 2 Skaker Road, Suite D-225, Shirley, MA 01464. Dear Betty,
I do not know if you remember me but I read of your Dad's passing in the paper. I remember going to your house when we were in high school. Your Mom and Dad were so sweet to me. Aunt Julie, Betty Lou, Ben and Family,
My deepest, heartfelt sympathies to all of you. I will always remember Uncle Gene. He was a great help to us when we were choosing our plumbing/bathroom fixtures as we were building our house. I will always remember the Junnila Christmas Parties,(I was really young) and the fun that our parents had together. He will be missed. I am sure they are all gathering together in heaven. May your memories of him heal your broken hearts.

Gene was my father's partner for many years in the WPD. He was a great friend to my dad- I remember them laughing together often! I'm sure my dad was standing at the gate waiting...RIP Gene

Great Uncle Gene was truly that, a GREAT UNCLE. I very much enjoyed the years I lived behind him and took walks over to see him and enjoyed his visits when he was giving me plumbing advise on the 'right' way to do things like they did in the old days. We wish to extend our sympathy on the loss of Gene.Through the years Gene became so much more than a customer of the supply house, he became our friend, there was never a time when Gene came in where we were not left smiling when he left, the stories and jokes, he had a million of them. Uncle Gene,You'll be remembered, a great Uncle to us and a wonderful brother to our Mom. You always had a story or joke to tell and if there was a plumbing problem, you were right there to help.
