Francis Sheehan Obituary

Francis J. Sheehan, Jr., M.D., 79

MILLBURY - Francis J. Sheehan, Jr., M.D., 79, passed away peacefully at home after a long illness. He was surrounded by his wife and children. He is survived by his wife Carol Melanson Sheehan, his son Michael Sheehan and his wife Clara, his daughter Michelle Parker and her husband David, and his daughters Maryfrances Ouellette and Moira Sheehan. He is also survived by his six siblings: Daniel Sheehan, Robert Sheehan, Patricia Grabauskas, Karen LaPierre, Eileen Boucher, and Mary-Jo McKeon. He also had six grandchildren: Matthew, William, Patrick, Ryan, Sarah, and Mikayla as well as one great grandchild, Naomi.

Dr. Sheehan was born on June 29, 1937 in Woonsocket, RI and grew up in Millbury, MA where he graduated from high school at 16 years old. He went on to receive his pharmacology degree from Mass College of Pharmacy and also graduated with a Master's degree in Natural Science from WPI in Worcester, MA. Later in life Dr. Sheehan received his Medical degree from the University of Tampico.

He had a long career as a pharmacist, but his passion was teaching, beginning his career in that field at St. Peters High School in Worcester and later, at the college level, at Cape Cod Community College where he was an adjunct professor. In addition to all of these roles, in his retirement, Dr. Sheehan enjoyed immensely his job as the Town of Sandwich Barn Inspector.

He was loved by his family, many friends and students. He was a gifted teacher and had an impact on many students as evidenced by the numerous thank you notes he often received. He loved his dogs Rocky & Jack and spending time outdoors. While he was a lifelong learner and avid reader, he most enjoyed spending time with his family.

Memorial visitation will be held at Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave., (Rte. 151) Mashpee on Monday, March 6 from 4-7 PM.

Memorial Mass will celebrated at St. John Catholic Church, 44 Temple St., Worcester, MA on Tuesday, March 7 at 10:30 am. Burial will be private. Please visit www.ccgfuneralhome.com for information, directions and online guestbook.

Prof Sheehan, I so often remember at NOVA, one day in class, we were speaking of prayer and I mentioned that oft times at night I fall asleep before I finish my prayers. You consoled me by assuring me that if I fell asleep during prayer that my guardian angel finished them for me. I'm a big believer in angels but had not heard this before. I carry that precious token of sage advice close to my heart. Thank you again for all you did. May GOD bless and rest your precious soul...in JESUS ' name, amen!

My sincere condolences to the Sheehan family. I met Fran at the military clinic where we both worked, he was a Pharmacist there. He spoke of his education in the East, and his expertise in Shiatsu and hypnotherapy. His shiatsu and hypnotherapy techniques relieved me from years of chronic neck pain, that chiropractors and osteopaths could not. He was so intelligent and ready to help whomever he could, always with a smile. He is missed.

I first met Fran while we both worked in a healthcare setting. He was a very strong advocate for the patients under his care. I later came to know Carol and the fur kids as friends.

Mrs. Sheehan and family,

I was so sorry to read of Frannie's passing. We were friends and neighbors in Tatnuck when our children were young. After my husband died he was a great comfort to me. His daughter Moira and my son Glen were inseparable friends in their early years. When they left Worcester for Paxton and beyond we eventually lost contact. i am so happy to see that he became a doctor; he really accomplished a lot and you must be very proud.

May you find comfort in your memories and in knowing that others care and share in your grief. God bless you.

Sincerely,
Louise (Green) Cournoyer
