Margaret J. (Dooling) O'Connor, 84

Oxford - Margaret J. (Dooling) O'Connor, 84, died Sunday, February 2, 2014, in her home after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, John F. "Jack" O'Connor, who died on January 5, 2014. She is survived by six children, John O'Connor of Arlington, VA, Katherine Randall of Peachtree City, GA, Daniel O'Connor and his wife Debbie of Orlando, FL, Thomas O'Connor and his wife Maureen of Dudley, Timothy O'Connor and his partner, Melissa Ford, of Oxford, and Kevin O'Connor and his wife Joanne of Oxford; two sisters, Mary Molloy of North Adams and Anne Tietgens of Trinity, FL; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was born in North Adams, the daughter of the late William W. and Ellen G. (Curran) Dooling, and lived most of her life in Oxford.

Mrs. O'Connor graduated from St. Joseph's High School in North Adams in 1947 and Our Lady of the Elms College in Chicopee in 1951. She later became a 4th grade teacher at the Chaffee School in Oxford where she worked for 8 years before retiring in 1976. Mrs. O'Connor and her husband relocated to Clearwater, Florida 20 years ago. She was a member of St. Roch's Church in Oxford and St. Michael the Archangel in Clearwater. Her family's frequent visits to Florida were a great source of enjoyment.

I am so sorry for the loss of both your parents. When I returned from Springfield to Oxford to teach at Chaffee school, your Mom was my 4th grade neighbor. She was a great friend and a super teacher. I learned a lot from her while at Chaffee.

To the children of both Margaret and Jack. I can only imagine what you are going through right now. Know that your parents are finally at rest and at peace. What may comfort you in the times ahead, is the fact that both your parents were wonderful people. I have great memories of living aside of you and babysitting for a few of you. My thoughts and prayers go out to you at this time.
