Richard Brooks Obituary
He leaves his wife of 35 years, Carla A. (Hackett) Brooks; five daughters, Anna C. Harvey and her husband Jesse of Rochdale/Leicester, Alissa J. Case and her husband Jeff of Paxton, Arianne H. Brooks of Schenectady, NY, and Aislinn M. Brooks and Abby G. Brooks, both of Paxton; his father, William S. Brooks of Howey-in-the-Hills, FL; a brother, William "Bud" Brooks and his wife Caroline of West Boylston; four grandchildren, Gabrielle, Haley, Emma and Eva; and nieces and nephews.
Dick was born in Holden, son of the late Genevieve M. (Counts) Brooks and William S. Brooks, and lived in Holden before moving to Rutland just a year ago. He was a graduate of Cushing Academy in Ashburnham and received a B.A. in Communications from UMass-Amherst. He was currently a manager at Stone & Berg in Worcester. For years Dick owned and operated the Montgomery Ward Store in Holden, and in line with his entrepreneurial spirit, has more recently had a successful eBay business.
Dick had a great love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and regularly attended church at Heritage Bible Chapel.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 28th, in the Heritage Bible Chapel, 182 Brooks Station Road, Princeton. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Princeton. The family requests donations be made to the Heritage Bible Chapel, P.O. Box 1096, Princeton, MA 01541, in lieu of flowers. To offer a condolence or share a memory, visit

Dick was one of the nicest people I've ever known. I don't believe a single word has ever been spoken against him. I can see him in Heaven patiently waiting for the Great Resurrection when he'll be united with all his family and friends alike!

Dear Carla & Family,
I have just returned from the UK and learned of the very sad news today. I am so very sorry for your loss. It was a privilege to have known Dick. He was a great man and he absolutely adored his family. I am so very sorry that I couldn't be at the funeral.

I have only known Dick for a short time. In that time we grew to trust each other a great deal. He will always be one of the genuinely nicest people I've ever met.
