Sharon E. (Desmarais) Mikelonis, 58

Sutton - Sharon E. (Desmarais) Mikelonis, loving and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and beautiful spirit passed away peacefully on August 15, 2014, after a courageous battle against lung cancer. She was 58 years young and was surrounded at the end by her adoring family who marveled at her courage, dignity, and shining radiance.

Sharon was born on August 21, 1955, in Worcester, Massachusetts. She was a graduate of North High School. She is survived by her husband, Scott T. Mikelonis of Sutton, her parents Anna J. (Gribouski) and Wallace J. Desmarais, Sr.; her daughter Jodi Giles and son-in-law, Brian Giles; her grandchildren Samantha, Courtney and Brian Jr all of Northbridge; three sisters, Linda Warren of Florida, Patti Kozberg and her husband Kenny of Oakham and Jill Putis and her husband Ronnie; a brother Wallace "Joey" Desmarais, Jr. of Worcester; a sister-in-law Virginia Keddy and her husband James of Strafford, NH, a brother-in-law Joseph Mikelonis and his wife Crista of Tarmstedt Germany and nieces and nephews.

Sharon worked as an Executive Medical Secretary for the Westborough State Hospital many years before retiring. She loved animals, especially her Pug, Frank; her Labrador Retrievers and her cats.

She was a generous, loving, supportive and unselfish woman who always put her family and friends before herself. We will miss her with all of our hearts and will always cherish the times we spent together. She was always there when we needed her and was the most loving and caring wife, daughter, mother and grandmother.

Family and friends whose lives Sharon touched are invited to MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2014. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from the funeral home, departing at 9:30 a.m. for a Funeral Mass to be held at 10:00 a.m. in St. John Church, 40 Temple Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in North Cemetery in Oxford. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sharon's memory may be sent to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St, Worcester, MA 01606 or the Sweet Pea Friends of Rutland, 338 Pommogussett Rd., Rutland, MA 01543 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
