LAFLIN — James W. Kearney, 59, of Laflin, passed away suddenly June 20, 2018, in the arms of his beloved wife, soulmate and love of his life, his Donna.
He grew up in Laflin, attended Coughlin High School and graduated from Wilkes College. He went on to become a General Agent with the Knights of Columbus for 38 years.
Jim and Donna were married for 33 years and are the proud parents of two sons who he loved dearly: James (JP) and Michael Kearney. Jim was a wonderful husband and father who loved spending time with his family and friends at his cabin on Lake Ontario. A great day for Jim was fishing on his boat, the Donna Jean, with his family and friends. Keeping the beer cold, cooking and being the "king of one liners" were just a few of his many attributes.
The sudden loss of this man has left so many broken-hearted. Not only his family but his "guys" who he worked with every day and loved will miss him tremendously. This is an unbearable loss in all of our hearts and he will be forever loved and missed. Fly with the angels my love.
He was preceded in death by his father, James G. Kearney.
He is survived by his beloved mother, Rita Kearney, of Laflin, and Charles Draus; sister Colleen Kearney Volpetti and husband Nick; mother-in-law Jean Decker; sisters-in-law Mimi Decker Bereznak and husband John, of Hanover, Patty Decker Westcott and husband Michael, of Florida, and Michelle Decker, of Kingston; aunt Geraldine Revitt, of Georgetown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's name to: Blue Chip Animal Refuge, 947 Lockville Road, Dallas, PA 18612, or Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Twp., PA 18411.
Funeral services are in the care of Graziano Funeral Home Inc., 700 S. Township Blvd., Pittston Township.
Viewing hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday from the funeral home. Those who plan on attending are asked to be at the funeral home no later than 9:45 a.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 25, in St. Maria Goretti Church, 42 Redwood Drive, Laflin, PA 18702.
Interment services will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Jim and I were best friends sine 4th grade at Loveland Elementary School in Kingston. We had just moved to the area and at the time in my life I was very shy and picked on by other students. Jim saw this happening to me and took me under his wing as a friend. I have never forgotten all the great thing Jim did for me growing up. He was an awesome friend and like a brother to me growing up. I only wish that we had stayed in better contact after high school so I could have gotten to know his beautiful family. I miss him very much and he and his family are in my prayers everyday.

To the Kearney family,
So sorry for your loss. I'm very saddened by Jim's passing. We grew up together three houses down. Played Little League baseball & football together -he was always the biggest and best athlete. We were great friends growing up that I can't believe he is gone from this world. The outpouring of support just shows how well he was loved. Always remember the good times -he lived life to the fullest. I will miss my good friend.

Allowing yourself to grieve it's all part of God's healing process. Praying that God comforts all family and friends that have suffered from this devistating loss. It's common to ask why, though we need to trust in God's greater plan. My personal wish is that your tears of pain and sorrow fade to tears filled with fond memories of good times filled with love and laughter that you will once again share in heaven.
