Helen Louise Wiggins Marsh

1933 - 2023

Helen Louise Wiggins Marsh was entrusted to God's care on May 27, 2023 at Oakwood Assisted Living. She was 89, a resident of Zachary, LA and a native of Fort Necessity, LA. She graduated from Mercy Hospital in Vicksburg, MS in 1954 as a registered nurse. She retired from Lane Memorial Hospital. She was an accomplished baker and kept the cookie jar full of homemade treats for anyone who walked in the back door. Helen was the heart of our family...gentle, loving, encouraging and kind beyond measure. She loved her family and her friends, rejoicing in their successes, and comforting them through life's struggles. Her family, close friends and neighbors were frequent recipients of her kindness through deeds, encouraging words or a letter/card in the mail to remind them that she was praying for them. She represented all that is good in this life through her actions and her faith in God. She was a steadfast prayer warrior and we believe she had a 'direct line' to the man upstairs. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, James Robert Marsh, who she met on a blind date while in Nursing School. Preceded also by her mother, Elsie Neathery Behrens. She is survived by son, Roger Marsh (Marilyn); daughter, Sandy Shields (Mike); daughter, Laura Smith (Bates Browning). Grandchildren: Robbie Marsh (Cheryl), Shannon Sanders (Trevor), Amber Fabre (Dave), Lisa Major (Joshua), Nathan Smith (Winter). Great-grandchildren: Alissa LeBlanc (Jase), Lizzie Marsh, Gavin Mitchell, Aubrey Fabre, Collin Fabre, Smith Sanders, and Khloe Smith Also survived by two brothers, Charles (Gloria) Wiggins and Paul (Bonnie) Wiggins. Special thanks to her wonderful caregivers: Tammy Jordan, Diane Loyd, Dee Dee Allen and Kate Jones. Visitation at Baker Funeral Home on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 5:00-7:00pm. Visitation resumes at 10:00-11:00am on Friday, June 2, 2023 until religious services at 11:00am conducted by Bro. Corey Olivier. Interment at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Baker. Pallbearers: Roger Marsh, Nathan Smith, Trevor Sanders, Joshua Major, Gavin Mitchell and Jack Masterson. God has chosen to take you from our lives into His eternal healing arms and a home in Heaven that's beyond description. You can now rest and rejoice in HIS presence.
