Maxine E. Edwards, 92, of New Castle, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 25, 2024. She was born September 29, 1931 in Windy, KY, to the late Joseph B. and Iva Bertram. She and her late husband, Fred Edwards were united in marriage on November 26, 1949.
She retired from the New Castle State Hospital following over 25 years of service. Maxine enjoyed sewing and crocheting, but most of all loved spending time with her family.
Maxine leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Judy Coffey of Galveston, IN, Bill (Gail) Edwards of New Castle, son-in-law, Maurice True of New Castle; six grandchildren, Donnie (Melissa) True, Vickie McIntosh (Steve Houchins), Kellie (Richard) Riggs, and Nick (Haley) Edwards, all of New Castle, Brandi (Billy) Wininger of Galveston, and Travis (Kim) Coffey of Lafayette; great grandchildren, Alyssa Semler of New Castle, Garrett Harding of New Castle, Gavin and Brookelyn Coffey of Lafayette, Trevor and Aubree Dedaker of Galveston and Lane and Kenzie Edwards of New Castle; two sisters, Elise Bertram and Helen Massengale, both of Monticello, KY; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Edwards; a daughter, Linda True, and a son-in-law, Ronnie Coffey.
Services will be at 12 p.m., Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with her nephew, Rev. Buddy Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens.
