Hernan Valencia Obituary
He came to the United States, and eventually settling in New London. Mr. Valencia worked at the Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for many years, retiring this past June; and was currently working part time at the U.S. Sub Base in Groton.
He was the beloved husband of Yomary (Breton) Valencia who survives him; four children: Hernan Valencia Jr., Denisse Olivo, Stephanie and Naysha Valencia; four siblings: Guillermo Valencia, Magda Matias, Luis Valencia and Lourdes Bobadilla; and four grandchildren: Xavier, Andrew, Bryan and Nathan.
His family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. Family and friends may gather at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 10 Huntington St., New London. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.

I have worked with Hernan for the last 3 years and he was always great with me. We got closer on the last year due to me giving birth to my first son last June 2021 and he had a grandson - they were about the same age if I remember correctly. He would always share pictures and videos of him and telling me how awesome he is. We would share milestones of the kids from having their first teeth to rolling over and finally being able to stand. On his last day in our department, we got him a cake, cards and a gift. I will never forget how he cut the rectangular cake in a triangular size. That was a really fun memory of Hernan.
As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

I was very sadden to hear that Hernan has passed and he will be missed. We use to work together at Gold Star Pizza back in the 90,s. He went work at the L&M Hospital. I had back surgery 9 years ago and I had the biggest surprise that he came into my room to see me. He said he saw my name and came to see how I was doing. Hernan was a very hard working, kind, and caring man. Sending my prayers to all his family.
