To the Impellizeri Family,
On behalf of all of us at SUBVETS Groton Base, our sincere condolences on the loss of Joseph Sr.
I don't know a lot about him but from his service over 11 years he was a proud patriot who served his country well.
He was a proud Submariner and I was proud to be associated with him through SUBVETS.
It was an honor to participate in the Honors Detail to pay our final tribute to Joe this past Tuesday. As I said there it is our intention to keep his memory alive.
Respectfully,
John "Gumba" Carcioppolo

Dear Sue, Joe Jr., Kelly, and the entire Impellizeri Family,
I’m an old friend of Joe’s, first from EB, where he helped train me before headin’ off to Millstone, and, more recently, through SUBVETS! Understanding the hole left behind, regardless the inevitability or forewarning, pray this helps some wee bit...to allow...enable…the grief! So truly sorry to hear about your husband...dad... grandfather...brother. At least now he’s at peace with our Lord… definitely keepin’ y’all in my prayers!
When my mother died, even after a years-long battle with cancer, I was shattered by the loss…inconsolable…she was my mentor! I like to think that I got my character from my father, but my mind and its capacity from m’dear sainted mother!!! BUT, "If your faith assures you she's in heaven, then what are the tears all about?!?" I hold eternity dearly close...a cherished, hard-won prize...but, in the interim, that answer lies below.
SELFISH TEARS
(I Eulogize My Beloved Mother - March, 1989)
Today we cry...must admit they're selfish tears.
You see...our faith assures your journey's done.
But it's not for you we mourn, at all, my dear;
It's for those of us you've left behind...alone!!!
We share your joy...share your happiness at rest,
Your painful fears now for forever stilled.
You've fought the good fight, passed the final test,
But you've left behind a hole that can't be filled!!!
So, until we each rejoin you some someday,
And, while your memory buoys us through those years,
We'll miss you...but continue on our way,
And, from time to time, we'll cry our selfish tears!!!

Sue and the Impellizeri Family,
We are so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. He was such a wonderful and smart person and we loved being with you both. I can still hear his voice and miss his wonderful cooking down at the boat. Our thoughts are with you Sue. ~ Amy and Nate Cody (JAMMS) Cheshire, CT

Sue and Family,
Amy and I deeply saddened to hear of Joes passing. I will never forget his generosity and loved to chat with him down on the docks. He was a true gentleman and I will always remember his great smile. You are in our thoughts.

Special condolences from all of Joe's fishing buddies in FL.,especially Stan, Jay, and Zac. Everyone is shocked! We all loved fishing with Joe and as he always said "I just love being here on the water whether we catch a fish or not".
