Mark Angerer Obituary

Mark Joseph Angerer, 68, of Marion, died peacefully in his home on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. Services are pending with Teahen Funeral Home. Mark was born in DeWitt, Iowa, on Feb. 7, 1954, to Jerry and Lois (Blanche) Angerer. He graduated from LaSalle High School, Cedar Rapids, in 1972. Following graduation, Mark worked as a mechanic at Novak’s Auto before becoming a Union Electrician Journeyman. Mark had a love of dogs, horses, and motorcycles. He enjoyed canoeing and camping trips, including many adventures to the Colorado Rocky Mountains with friends. Mark was a good brother who liked to tease but (usually) in a fun way. He was his younger sibling’s favorite babysitter. It often involved big bowls of ice cream, staying up late, and racing in boxes down the carpeted stairs. Mark was not always the best influence, but he sure was fun! He had a big heart and was always there for his family and friends. Mark is survived by his siblings, Steve, Danette, Sue (Jim) Guy, Anne, and Jenifer (Paul Sueppel) Angerer; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and Dawn (Dan) Thomas Pruisman and their children. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Debbie and Mary Michelle. If you would like to remember Mark, please raise a Miller Lite (or Bacardi and Coke) to toast a great brother, son, uncle, and friend. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of donor’s choice in Mark’s name. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.teahenfuneralhome.com.

I have known Mark all my life. I like to think I had a hand in getting into the electrical field. He was a pleasure to be around and I could always count on Mark for good insight and a calm demeanor. Mark was one year my junior so I was in Debbie's grade. I would kid Mark about being taller than me until we sat down then we were the same height. So he had some long legs on him. I am glad I knew Mark in my life. It was a real pleasure growing with him. If we had more Marks in the world what a wonderful world it would be. Save me a seat no matter where we end up.

My deepest sympathies to Mark’s family. I was a year ahead of him at LaSalle, but knew lots of people from his class. Debbie was in my class of ‘71 at LaSalle. Praying that, over time, you will all find peace within your grief. God Bless ya Mark!

My heart goes out to his family. My thoughts and prayers during this time. Mark was an amazing man,and I could have asked for no better guy to raise me during my teen years and be a grandpa to my children. We loved him with all of our hearts and will miss him more than i can express in words. I will cherish all the memories I have of him.
