Christine Renee Walton "Chris" (nee Downey), age 45 passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2016, after a long battle with cancer.
Born on April 8, 1971, to Rev. David Edward and Ruth Edna Downey. Was a lifelong resident of Joliet.
Chris was a graduate of Joliet West High School. A member of First Christian Church in Joliet, where she enjoyed playing the piano for church services. She was employed at Presence Health Corporation.
Preceded in death by her mother; Ruth Edna (nee Frey) Downey, one brother; David Stephen Downey and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Survived by her loving husband of 26 years Donald Lee Walton Jr. Her children; Michael (Katie) and Samantha Walton, grandchildren; Christina and Evyn, her father Rev. David Downey of Joliet. Four siblings; Joyce (Gary) Mitchell of Eastern, Kentucky, Mary (Bob) Lirot of Joliet, Darlene (Steven) Christenson of Chesapeake, Virginia. Philip(Jackie) Downey of Minooka, Illinois. Also numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends. All of which who mourn her passing.
Chris was cremated in accordance to her wishes.
A memorial service for Chris will be held Thursday, July 7, 2016 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at First Christian Church 1701 Laraway Rd., Joliet, Illinois (815) 723-0041
In lieu of flowers memorials to her husband Donald Walton would be appreciated.

Donny I remember being the one to intoduce you two. She would come to my house to see you on the sly but we all knew. What we didn't know is that you would be together for 26 years! Thru good and bad, having a family together and loving each other. Anything you need let us know

Chris was an extraordinary woman with a heart of gold. Her smile always lit up the room. She was the type of person that would put her own problems aside to make sure her friends and family were taken care of. She was beautiful inside and out and will truly be missed. May she rest in peace and shine bright on us all from up above.
