Age 81, of Joliet, IL passed away early Friday morning, May 6, 2022 at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, IL. She was born February 9, 1941 in Joliet to the late Francelia and Louis Lemke and had resided in the Joliet and Plainfield area her entire life.
Surviving are her daughter, Charmaine Smeets; son, Jason (April) Forneris; grandchildren, Rachelle Fraser, Shain Katro, Scott (Katie) Kirman, Rebecca (Timothy) Ambrosini, Johnathan Forneris and Ryan Forneris; great grandchildren, Sean, Korinne, Jenevieve, Adeline and Eleanor. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by her husband, John Forneris; daughter, Deborah Katro; and her siblings, Marvin, Doreen, Dickie and Butch Lemke.
Fran, always full of energy, cleaned homes intensely for several years when she was younger. She also was employed over the years as a supervisor at Essington Place, an evening custodian at Crystal Lawns School and eventually, she retired from the Plainfield Park District, however, she never stopped cleaning, which some would say was her hobby.
She and her late husband enjoyed the camaraderie of their friends, always having fun at the Dale AC and the Moose Lodge. She will be remembered for her friendly, outgoing personality and the endless love she held for her family.
Visitation for Fran will be Wednesday May 11, 2022 from 4-8 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. A Memorial service will begin Thursday morning, May 12, 2022, 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Her final earthly remains will be laid to rest following her services at Woodlawn Memorial Park, near her beloved daughter and husband.
