Emily Quick Obituary
Emily E. Quick, age 94, formerly of King Ferry, passed away Monday, Nov. 28, 2016 at the Finger Lakes Center for Living in Auburn.
Mrs. Quick was born January 1, 1922 in Genoa, the daughter of the late Leslie and Charlotte (Atwater) Hunt, and been a Genoa-King Ferry resident for most of her life. Emily was a most dedicated mother. She raised her six children alone
following the sudden death of her husband, Ralph E. Quick, in 1953, and went on to earn a food service degree from Cornell University. Emily was the cafeteria manager for the Southern Cayuga Central School District for a number of years. She later worked as a cook for the Triangle Restaurant in King Ferry, and was a hostess for Mano's Restaurant in Ithaca.
Emily was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of King Ferry for over 70 years, and was very active with the Red Cross Blood Drives held at the church.
She enjoyed sewing in her spare time.
She is survived by her children, Carole Bowman (Bruce) of Bracey, VA, Joan Quick of Auburn, Robert Quick (Marjorie) of Spencerport, and Marjorie Hotelling (Jamie) of Genoa, 26 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, a dear daughter-in-law, Charlene Quick of Geneseo, and her dear son-in-law, Donald Robin of King Ferry.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Lucille Robin, son, Ralph Quick, and brother, Norman Hunt.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday (Dec. 3), in the First Presbyterian Church of King Ferry. Friends may call at the church on Saturday, from 1 to 3 pm prior to services. Interment will be in West Genoa Cemetery, King Ferry.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of King Ferry.

Emily always had a kind word and a shoulder for the girls at Mano's. Many of us were single mothers and "Gram" would lend and ear and her sage advice. She will be greatly missed.

I knew Emily as Gram at Manos Diner. She was delight to work with and was very kind to us girls who were servers there. A great sense of humor, artsy crafty and brighten up the room with her sense of style at the late night shift. It was an honor to have known this sweet, strong and hard working lady. My heartfelt sympathy to her family and love ones.
