I was saddened to learn of the passing of Richard. I was fortunate to have him as a professor in computer science back in the early 70s at ACC. He was one of a very few people that helped start my career in Computer Science. Please accept my condolences and thoughts/prayers for an excellent professor & person.

Thank you all for your kind words, prayers and thoughts. It means so much.
My dad was many things to many people, but to me he was a great dad. He taught me many things, like fishing and cooking and certainly to get good grades, as those of you who knew him as a professor can probably imagine. But the most import lesson he taught me was how important it is to live the life you want to live, not what someone else thinks it should be. I have a very fulfilling and happy life now because he encouraged me to just be me, whatever that was going to be. I miss him so much, but keep the best memories close to my heart. I know he would be very happy to know that so many of the people he knew and loved where sending their kind wishes to his family.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Doug Michael

I too had Dick for a teacher in 1972 at ACC. He taught Computer Systems Analysis and Design. It was way over my head and he knew it and so did I. He understood I needed it to graduate and he helped me to understand the tough concepts. he gave me inspiration to keep trying. I passed the course as he worked with me to get thru it. I'll never forget that. My heart goes out to you and yours at this difficult time.

Mr. Klinger was, hands down, the toughest CS professor. His Systems Analysis class taught me so much. The one-question final exam was brutal, but when you finished it, you realized just how much he taught you. I'll never forget him.
God Bless.

In the fall semester of 1965, I was 18, a freshman at Auburn CC and had Dick for Bus. Mgt. 103 on M/W/F at 3pm. Good teacher, good guy, gave me good advice as a business major. Im almost 62 now. Though I've had many teachers in my life, I stillremember Dick. May God be with him and yourselves, especially at this time.
