Hubert A. Bowman

Hubert A. Bowman, age 88 of Clarksville, TN, died on Monday, September 17, 2012 at Gateway Medical Center.

He was born on October 7, 1923 in Boones Mill, VA to the late Macy Alvin Bowman and Sylvia White Bowman. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Capps and grandson, Richard Bowman Gray.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 2 p.m., at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel, with Dr. John David Laida and Rev. Felts Dent officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. and Friday, September 21, 2012 from 12 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Hubert was a U.S. Army Veteran having served 27 years. He served in WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and was a volunteer for 25 years with Camp Rainbow.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Margaret Bowman of Clarksville, TN; four daughters, Gail (Rick) Longton of Clarksville, TN, Pam (Don) Moses of Clarksville, TN, Sandra (Harrison) Crabtree of Franklin, TN and Karen Heavener of Goodlettsville, TN; two sisters, Louise (Ed) Callahan of Bridgewater, VA and Jean (Paige) Gordon of Pueblo West, CO; seven grandchildren, Meg (John) Manning, Chris (Carrie) Lanier of Clarksville, TN, William (Sharon) Crabtree, Joshua Heavener, Jeremy Heavener of Murfreesboro, TN, Levi (Meg) Crabtree of Franklin, TN and Sarah (Jimmy) Biggerman of Colorado Springs, CO; six great-grandchildren, Jack Manning, Max and Alex Biggerman, Emily Lanier, Will and Parker Crabtree; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Chris Lanier, William Crabtree, Levi Crabtree, Joshua Heavener, Jeremy Heavener, John Manning, and Jimmy Biggerman. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Baracca Sunday School Class.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 435 Madison Street, Clarksville, TN 37040 or Camp Rainbow, P.O. Box 3522, Clarksville, TN 37043.
