HAYES, Sr., 74
LAKELAND - Joseph F. Hayes Sr., 74, passed away peacefully at home from heart failure on Dec. 15, 2013. He was originally from Salem, MA.
Loving husband of nearly 53 years, father of 5, and grandfather of 7 who enjoyed Granite Lake in NH. Active communicant and Eucharistic Minister of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree. Past Grand Knight in Keene, NH. Worked as a respiratory therapist and taught the first technicians in the field worldwide International sales, representative for equipment and mobility devices, served in the Air National Guard. Loved golf, cooking, photography, amateur radio, a variety of music especially opera.
Service will be held Thursday Dec. 19, at 12:10 Mass at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Reception following at Angler's Cove Club House. Memorial may be made to Catholic Charities.

I had the pleasure of knowing Joe in Keene for many years. I knew Joe on a lot of levels, including casual employee and golf partner. His sage advice, sharp wit and sincere friendship made him a pleasure to be around. I am saddened by the loss of my friend, but consider myself extremely lucky to have known him. My condolences to all of his family.

Joe was my person that I could depend on to never say no when I called for him to be altar server at a funeral at St. Bernard's. We sure did miss him when he moved to Florida. May he rest in peace. Rita Lindgren, former secretary at St. Bernard's.

Joe was a wonderful person and friend. I enjoyed working with him in Keene, NH and our prayers and thoughts go out to Arlene and the children. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace. Love, George and Sandy Zanga
