MARION KORONKIEWICZ Obituary
KORONKIEWICZ nee PIASECKI
CHATHAM, N.J. - Marion Koronkiewicz nee Piasecki of Chatham, NJ, passed away peacefully with her daughter at her side Friday, December 1, 2017 at the Sunrise Assisted Living facility in Madison, NJ. Born a coal miner's daughter, September 24, 1934, to the late Frank and Stella Piasecki, she grew up in Nanticoke, PA with three sisters the late Irene, Isabel, and Eleanor.
Marion received a Registered Nurse degree at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, NY in 1956. In 1959, she married the late Frank G. Koronkiewicz, pharmacist and owner of Koronkiewicz Pharmacy. She and her husband were both very active in the community and St. Stanislaus Church. Marion volunteered with various organizations including Meals on Wheels and worked as an operating room nurse at Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre and then the American Red Cross at blood drives.
She loved to polka, going to Broadway shows, and spending time with her family and friends. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling stories.
Surviving are her son Frank (wife Susan) grandchildren Amanda and Frankie, Albuquerque, NM and Michael and Joseph Haley, Swoyersville, PA; son Paul (wife Jessica) and grandson Ross, Palisades, NY; and daughter Karen, Chatham, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider supporting organizations helping to turn the tide against diseases that directly impacted Marion's life like breast cancer and Lewy Body Disease.
Funeral Services are in the care of Earl W. Lohman Funeral Home, Inc., 14 Green Street, Nanticoke, PA. Viewing hours will be held at the funeral home Friday, December 8 between 6 and 8 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 9 at 11:30 a.m. from Lohman's, with Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. in St. Faustina Parish Church (St. Mary's, secondary site). Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township, PA.
