MELBA ZAREMBA Obituary

MELBA YOLANDA ZAREMBA EDINBURG - Melba Yolanda Zaremba, 67, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at her residence in Edinburg. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rene and Mercedes Hinojosa. Melba will forever be remembered as one of the best teachers, sponsors, and friends. She was very passionate about teaching and always left a lasting mark on her students wherever she taught. Her abilities as a teacher were impeccable and her students loved her because she was so committed to their educational needs. As a UIL Accounting sponsor, Melba took her students to the state level of competition almost every year. For many of her students in UIL, Melba was more than just a sponsor, she was also a mentor. Her career success in education was not an accident. Melba was also a highly successful district and regional manager for Avon. She was twice selected as a top ten manager in the world in her short career. No obstacle could prevent Melba from achieving her goals. Outside of work, Melba was a founding member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Society at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Edinburg and served as its president until this year. Continuing her commitment to education and through her efforts as President for the local chapter of Association of University Women (AAUW), an endowment was created at UTPA. Melba will be sorely missed by the many lives she's touched. Melba is survived by her husband, Charles Stanley Zaremba of Edinburg; a son, Charles Michael Zaremba of McAllen; a daughter, Christina Ann Zaremba of Sharyland; two sisters, Rosie Stockwell of Edinburg and Mercedes Garcia of Sharyland; and a brother, Rene Hinojosa, Jr. of Pharr. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today, July 17, 2015, at Legacy Chapels in Edinburg. Funeral mass will take place at 2 p.m. today, July 17, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment of ashes will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2015, at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg. I knew Melba many years ago - she was my first Avon manager.

My condolences to Charles and the Hinojosa and Zaremba families. I had not seen Melba since high school until she and Charles came to teach at La Joya High School. We reminisced about our band and twirling days while looking at our yearbooks. Melba was always positive and motivated with her students and peers. I missed her when they left the district and I miss her now. May God Bless her and her family always.

With our deepest, heartfelt condolences for Melba's family. We were in bible class (with Sister Dorothy) with her & Charles--that was where we met her. Always enjoyed her participation at these classes--what she shared about her family, etc. She was a beautiful person--inside & outside. Again, we are sorry about her passing. Her family is in our thoughts & prayers. Melba continues to live on through her children..and in the memories & hearts of her loved ones. May she RIP. Clara C. & Charlie Flores, Jr.

I was deeply saddened upon hearing of Melba's passing. I extend my deepest condolences to her family. Melba was the consummate educator at La Joya High School which is where I worked with her. She pressed forward, never gave up, and exuded a positive energy that made all those who met her try their best. A beautiful human being, the incomparable Melba. May the Zaremba family rejoice in the memories and may you be strengthened in knowing that Melba's presence will remain with you forever.
