NORMAN FRANK Obituary

NORMAN DANIEL FRANK II, ESQ.
Norman Daniel (Dan) Frank II, 61, an entrepreneur and lawyer, passed away Feb. 7 at his home in Mission, Texas. He died after a yearlong battle with esophageal cancer.
Born Nov. 1, 1948 in Salt Lake City, Utah to lawyer William Spiegelberg Frank and Vatia H. Albright, Ph.D., Frank was a successful entrepreneur and lawyer in McAllen. He also was president of the Reynaldo G. Garza School of Law in Mission, Texas in the mid '90s.
Dan owned a Radio Shack dealership in McAllen where he sold, at that time, state-of-the-art TSR80 computers, one of the first computers for small businesses and consumers. He was the first mail-order computer company to advertise in the Wall Street Journal and as a result his dealership became Radio Shack's largest franchisee.
Dan also was involved in the real estate industry in Texas as well as in London and in Kazakhstan. He was a self-made businessman, owning several business ventures, including a printing company. Mr. Frank was also very active in the Rio Grand Valley business community as a former president of the Mission Chamber of Commerce and former president of the Mission Industrial Foundation. Mr. Frank also ran for a seat in the Texas State House of Representatives for District 41 in 1990.
A major with the Texas Civil Air Patrol, Frank over the years owned and operated a helicopter and various fixed-wing planes, including an amphibious sea plane.
Mr. Frank earned an undergraduate degree in engineering from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University ("VPI"), a Masters in business administration from University of Texas, Pan American and a Law degree (JD) from the Reynaldo G. Garza School of Law.
Survivors are his wife, Anara, and children Tamaris, Danny and Alkestis; his mother, Vatia H. Albright, his brother Robert. H. Frank and sister-in-law, Nikii, of McLean, Va.; sister Geanne Frank of Palos Verdes, Calif.; three nephews and one niece.
Services will be held at St. Jude Thadeus Church, 505 S. Ironwood in Pharr, TX on Friday, February 12, 2010 at 10 am.

Memories and Condolences
for NORMAN FRANK

Not sure what to say?

April 24, 2010

I am saddened to learn of Norm's (his VT name). I first met him in early September, 1967 at a YMCA camp, elective for entering VT freshman. Our friendship was not immediate, but it endured from that time until his passing. He was a good friend, and I always enjoyed hearing of his adventures. Our most recent communications centered on his recent marriage, and the joy he felt in being a father. We shared laughs about how he would relate to young children given his age at their births. Small in physical stature, but huge in his zeal for life and his friends. I shall miss this great man and imaginative friend.
