Dear Cathy & Pollock Family,
My heart breaks for all of you in the loss of your husband, son, Dad, grandpa, brother, friend, etc. Roy was a good man and I know he will be missed. He was a fun man, full of life and a great sense of humor. You can tell from his FB posts that he loved his family and he loved nature. I could tell when I saw you at our 50th Class Reunion last year, Cathy, that the two of you were still high school sweethearts, 50+ years later! May that love and wonderful memories sustain you in the tough days ahead.
Hugs and prayers,
Diane (Leidner) Fluitt & Family

I first met Roy during our 4th grade year at Robert E. Lee Elementary. We both lived on Enfield Rd. We rode bikes, shot our pellet guns, and hung out with neighborhood friends. We played sports together. Roy was a great athlete and a very good-natured person who anyone would like. We lost touch until reconnecting on Facebook. His last posting was of the snow in the mountains near his home and personal image of him with Cathy inside their home.( My heart goes out to Ms. Pollock (mom) who still lives in the valley. He was the childhood friend I never forgot. Ms. Pollock welcomed me into their home and included me in camping trips to Pade/Island Boca Chica vicinity. Such a warm Christian upbringing paved the way for the beautiful life he enjoyed with his lovely wife Cathy, children and grandchildren (who I have never met but came to know them through the photos and loving words he wrote about them in Facebook). Knowing Roy for what time I knew him was nothing less than a gift from God. I had planned to go up to see him with other friends and family in Colorado this past summer and now regret not making the trip. Ironically I was attending the Katy-Taylor football game as my grandson was on the opposing team his grandson played on.

I graduated with Roy in 1970. As the reunion Coordinator for many years, I had the pleasure to know more about him, as adults, than when we were in school. My condolences go out to all of his family. He was so proud of his children & grandchildren. I thoroughly enjoyed his Facebook posts of his family and the country side that he loved, not to mention his sense of humor. RIP Roy, until we see each other once again.

Mrs. Pollock,
Just wanted to say how sad I am that Roy left this world so quickly. I have so many happy memories of him from high school. He was such a good friend - I considered him my sixth brother. I always felt that he had my back.
I took piano at Mrs. Hinojosa's, who lived across town by the Jr. High. I had to walk home, which was quite a ways, and many times I would look out the window at Mrs. Hinojosa's and there would be Roy, with a smile, in his blue Camaro, waiting to take me home. Sometimes when I was practicing piano, he would join me and play complementary notes on the high octaves. He had a really good ear for music.
There were many Christmas Eves that he would accompany my family to midnight Mass. Afterward, he would return to our house and stay until the wee hours, regaling us with his stories. He always seemed happy and his wit kept us in stitches. One Christmas Eve he put on our Santa costume and fell asleep. You should have seen the face of my little brother, Willie, who was around 7 yrs old, when he discovered Santa passed out on our patio couch. We had to do some fast talking.
I regret that we had lost touch over the years and was so happy that I got to see Roy again at our high school 50-year reunion a couple of years ago. He even bought me and my best friend, Debbie (Holzem) Summers, a beer. I will miss him dearly and will always remember him with a smile on his face.
My prayers are for you and your entire family to find comfort in your happy memories of such a great guy. I know I will.
With deepest sympathy,
Lynne (Koen) Starnes
(I would have attended the services today, but just found out about them this morning. I am sure it was a wonderful tribute and many memories were shared.)

Roy was a classmate at EHS, I remember his very funny disposition, wild character and heart of gold. We reconnected many years after graduation, class of `70, via social media and I enjoyed hearing about his family mainly but also about his hunts up in the mountains where he loved to spend time riding his horses and just enjoying life! I will miss him so much as many of our close friends will! RIP dear friend! You will never be forgotten!

I enjoyed working with Roy at Willis Drilling many years ago. He had a great
sense of humor and maybe was a tad crazy.
