Elsie E. Murgittroyd, age 78, of Wheeler, entered into Heaven on January 31, 2014, at her home in Lafayette Township, with her family by her side.
Elsie was born in Farwell, on October 10, 1935, the daughter of William and Lucy Mae (Hall) Easlick. She married James "Jim" Murgittroyd on June 12, 1955, in Farwell.
Elsie truly enjoyed dairy farming, and took special care nurturing her calves, even feeding them by hand. She also spent much of her summer caring for her garden. In her spare time she would enjoy cards, especially euchre. She was a caring spirit, and if anyone was in need, she was always there. Her faith was great, and she was a member of the Lafayette Presbyterian Church. Above all, she loved all of her grandchildren.
Elsie is survived by her husband, Jim; her children, Debbie (Doug) Andrews of Reed City, Linda (Scott MacLaren) of Merrill, Alan (Jess) of Breckenridge, and Anne (Alan Murray) of St. Charles; her grandchildren, Billie Jo (Robert) James, Jim Butcher and family, Micheal Andrews and family, Melissa Andrews, Miranda Andrews, Doug (Mae), Mike (Lisa), Jimmy, Daniel, John, Haley, Felix, Jessica, Arriana, Gaige, and ReAnna; several great grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Shirley (Dick) Roslund of St. Louis, Albert Easlick of Farwell, Lenny (Bunny) Easlick of Harrison, Marge (Tim) Couts of Fremont, Esther Dailey of Hersey, Bev (Rolly) Linn of Dewagiac, and Connie (Jim) Kelly of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca. Interment will follow in Lafayette Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Online condolences may be left at
