Thomas Kappler Obituary

Kappler, Thomas W. 79, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at his home. Tom was born on Monday, July 18, 1938 in Chippewa Township, Isabella County, Michigan the son of Fred Elton and Elma (Blizzard) Kappler. On January 16, 1965, he married Virginia Lucille Durfee in Mt. Pleasant. Tom was employed by Dow Chemical for twenty-six and a half years as a machinist. He was a veteran of the US Navy from June 5, 1958 until his discharge on June 5, 1962, serving as a technician in aviation hydraulics. He was a member of the Borley-Hanel VFW Post in Mt. Pleasant and a member of the American Legion Post in Sanford. He enjoyed both fishing and hunting. Survivors include his children: Tammy and Donald Stephenson of Florence, Arizona, Diane and Earl Brown of Indiana, Michael Welch of Arizona, Dennis Welch of Rodney, Michigan and Connie and Cliff Edwards of Ionia, Michigan. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren and a sister, Wanda and Spence Jones of Tubbs Lake, Michigan. Tom was preceded in death by his wife Virginia, both parents, four brothers and two sisters. A Celebration of Life for Thomas will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the Kappler Home, 505 S.E.
