Linda Elder Obituary
She was born June 8, 1950, to the late Jesse S. and Edith Dowdell Vertrees in Elizabethtown.
Linda was the assistant director of information technology for the Oldham County Board of Education, a member of Southeast Christian Church, Crestwood Campus, and she served as past-president of PTA for both Centerfield Elementary and Oldham County Middle Schools. She also was a Cub Scout leader, member of the Croftboro Ya-Yas and was a "sweathog" for the Oldham County High School Marching Band.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her two sons, Alexander (Maggie) and Benjamin (Rosa); two grandchildren, Jane and Hannah Elder; she also will be missed by two sisters, Brenda Perkins and Claudia Whitely; and a brother, Jesse S. Vertrees, Jr.
A memorial service is at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Southeast Christian Church, Crestwood Campus, 6201 Crestwood Station in Crestwood.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. until time of service Thursday at the church.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Kosair Shriner's Hospital or Metro United Way.
Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home East is in charge of arrangements.
