Sean Check Obituary

Sean Check On September 5, 2014, Sean (Timothy) Check, a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend soared on angels' wings into the light. He fought a quiet and courageous two-and-a-half year battle with cancer, leaving all who knew him humbled by his will and determination. His legacy lives on in his best friend and wife, Ayumi; his daughter, Sienna; and his son, Rizon. He also leaves his constant canine companions, Apple and lzzy. His family and friends found comfort in his belief that he would be cured, a belief that was inspired by "HOPE" and the knowledge that he was surrounded by family, love, and faith. Sean served his country in the U.S. Navy. He loved flying having received his commercial pilot training at Big Bend College in Moses Lake, Washington. His family lived in Bellingham where he worked in construction and property development. Sean's family shared the love of snowboarding. He found great joy in cheering for Ayumi at her running events. He was Sienna's number one fan at her gymnastic and pole vaulting events and coached Rizon's basketball and soccer teams. He was a great fan of the Sonics, Seahawks, and Mariners. He is the youngest of 7 children born to retired Lt. Colonel Stephen Check (deceased) and Lois Check (Tenino) on August 2, 1970. He leaves behind his wife, AyumiTakabe; his daughter, Sienna Takabe; and son, Rizon Takabe. He is survived by his mother and six siblings, Pat Check (Chanty), Dan Check (Karey), Marisa Foley (Art), Jerri Smith (Butch), Mike Check, Steve Check (Rhonda); in-laws, Shoichi and Tokuko Takabe, Naomi Takabe; aunts, nieces and nephews; and his life-long "Tenino Brothers", Ronnie Hix, Andy Gamino, John Stonelake, Matt Edwards, Brent Conklin, Kurt Eckert, Brehden Conover, Ryan Yocum, and Scott Liljedahl. His family is grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of kindness, support and prayers.
