Thomas Thompson Obituary

Thomas Edward Thompson, Sr., 85, of Bremen, passed away at 9:33 a.m., Friday, July 1, 2022 in Miller's Merry Manor of Wakarusa. Tom was born on June 30, 1937 in Chicago to Arthur and Phoebe (Tuttle) Thompson. On April 12, 1958, he married Sue Ellen Beall.
He is survived by his loving wife Sue Ellen, his brother Allan (Sandy) Thompson of Kalamazoo, MI. and two children, Tom (Roxanne) Thompson of Bremen, Scott (Melodie) Thompson of Columbus, OH. They have seven grandchildren, Jessica (Jordan) Bender, Amanda (Mark) Yoder, Allie Thompson, Seth (Cait) Thompson, Chap Thompson, Cody Myer and Kyle Myer. They also have 10 great grandchildren, Lola Bender, Lincoln Yoder, Elsie Thompson, Abe Bender, Reese Yoder, Eva Yoder, Levi Thompson, Miles Thompson, Garrus Myer and Hadleigh Thompson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Cathy Myer and granddaughter Cassandra Myer.
He graduated from South Bend Central High School, married Sue in 1958 and soon began raising a family. He spent his career in both Real Estate and Custom Home Building (McCracken Homes/Thompson Homes) in Northern Indiana and Michigan. He was known for both creativity (architecture) and quality construction and finishes. In his pastime, he enjoyed fishing (many trips to Canada) and off his pier in Plymouth, IN (Pretty Lake) – always willing to tell a good fish story and could never pass up a cream filled long-john. He loved his family and was happiest when they all could gather at the lake.
He was passionate about his personal relationship with Jesus Christ and his involvement in a number of churches and non-profits in the area. He led many men's groups and organized a number of Saturday morning men's prayer breakfasts. He tried to actively give back to others and live with an open hand.
There will be a private, family gravesite service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to Camp Ray Bird Ministries (South Bend IN) at www.raybird.org.
